Self-Care Solutions for Attorneys

Join us on October 9th for a wellness CLE hosted by the DC LGBTQ+ Bar, Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP, and the LGBT+ Counseling Collective.
This one-hour course will be moderated by an attorney from the DC LGBTQ+ Bar Association Board with guidance by a counselor to promote lawyer well-being issues. The course discusses meaningful steps that lawyers can use to learn about the importance of self-care and incorporate self-care into their schedules to promote healthy work/life balance. Covered topics will include sources of stress, the effects of stress, minimizing stress, navigating the practice of law in a healthy manner, burnout, and depression.
CLE Information:
During this CLE, the attendees will:
- Learn about stress, its causes and how to minimize its negative effects
- How to navigate the practice of law in a healthy, sustainable manner
- Gain important tips and tools on how to avoid burnout and depression
CLE credit is approved for this webcast in CA and is pending approval in GA, IL, NY, PA, TX, VA and WA. An individual attorney application may be required for attorneys licensed outside these states. Please check with your respective bar(s) for confirmation. This program’s content is transitional, and is appropriate for both newly admitted and experienced NY attorneys.

Privacy Governance and Technology Transactions, Digital Assets and Data Management, University of Michigan JD 2013. Whitney’s practice focuses on privacy, data protection and information governance, advising clients on compliance with evolving U.S. state and federal privacy legislation and cross-border data protection matters. A certified privacy professional (CIPP/US), Whitney counsels clients on legal questions related to information and data use, as well as compliance obligations associated with corporate privacy and information security practices. Leveraging her in-house experience, Whitney also provides clients with practical business solutions for compliance with U.S. and global privacy regulations.
Roland Scheppske
LPC: LGBT+ Counseling Collective
With over 12 years in the medical field, Roland utilizes the relationship between the client and therapist to facilitate forward growth and healing, with the goal of becoming the best version of themselves. Roland particularly loves working with the aromantic and asexual community, failure-to-launch young adults, ethical non-monogamy/poly relationships and curiosity, queer veterans and military members and their families, those with people pleasing tendencies, the gay male population, and people wanting to work on improving their abilities to self-advocate and empower themselves. He also works with anxiety, depression, trauma, other LGBTQIA+ issues, spirituality/religious trauma (or “church hurt”), & other men’s issues. He has a special passion for working with gender diverse populations who have come out earlier in life and has extensive experience working with cis, het individuals and adolescents (16+) as well.
